I've decided after my Christmas break full of medical check-ups and appointments that 40 may not be quite as easy as I thought. It started off with a call last week from the ob/gyn office telling me I had some a-typical cells...after talking with the nurse I learned all was okay. Without going in to details, it all had something to do with my 'cycle'. It certainly got my heart racing and I definitely had a sigh of relief...Until the next day. I got a call at 7:45 AM from the imaging place about my mammogram. (35 was the baseline and 40 starts the yearly checks) Apparently, the doctor who was reading the results saw something suspicious. My first thought was of a mom at school who is currently fighting breast cancer...I've been praying for her and she instantly popped in to my mind. I told the gal on the phone I would be in for a re-check as soon as my dentist appointment was finished. (Remember: my winter break= medical app'ts!) Needless-to-say, I was very nervous about what might be found and my heart was racing and my stomach was upset! Luckily my dental app't went great and I headed back for a second mammogram.
****On a side note: Isn't is amazing how a machine can smash your breasts and take your breath away in an instant? I told Sean, if they weren't saggy before, they certainly are now! Oh boy!
After a couple more smashings, the nurse told me the results were great, and whatever was seen earlier in the day was not there. I guess it's not uncommon for this to happen. She said tissue can cause shadows, etc. I really didn't care what had happened, I was just so darn glad she said it was all clear!
As I drove home, I decided getting older may not be as easy as I thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than thankful that all has turned out to be fine! I think it's the reality that I'm getting older and it's easier for things to go wrong. One thing is for certain: I'm so thankful for my health and blessings in life!!
